Dental Implants in Petaling Jaya
Dental implants are a permanent, effective solution for missing teeth. Whether you’ve lost a tooth due to decay, injury, or other dental issues, implants can restore your smile and confidence. At V Dental Clinic SS2, we specialise in providing personalised implant treatments, led by the highly experienced Dr. Veron Koh. With over a decade of expertise in aesthetic dentistry and implantology, Dr. Veron is dedicated to helping patients regain their smile in the most comfortable way possible
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of materials like titanium or ceramic zirconia, designed to fuse with your jawbone. This integration process, called osseointegration, ensures that the implant is secure and functions like a natural tooth root. Once the implant is in place, it can support crowns, bridges, or even full dentures. At our clinic in Petaling Jaya, we use advanced diagnostic tools, such as CBCT scans (Cone Beam Computed Tomography), to plan the placement of implants with precision. This not only ensures optimal results but also minimises any potential risks associated with the procedure
Why Choose Dental Implants?
- Natural Look and Feel: Dental implants closely mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth, providing a seamless and lifelike smile.
- Durability and Long-lasting: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, offering a long-term solution for tooth replacement.
- Preservation of Bone Health and Prevent Facial Sagging: Implants help stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss and maintaining facial structure.
- Improved Oral Function: Unlike traditional dentures, implants provide stability and strength, allowing for comfortable chewing and speaking.
- Enhanced Confidence: Dental implants restore the ability to smile, eat, and speak with confidence, improving overall quality of life.
Types of Dental Implants We Offer in Petaling Jaya
Single Tooth Implants
If you are missing a single tooth, a single dental implant can restore both function and appearance. The implant is placed into the jawbone, followed by a custom-made crown that matches your surrounding teeth
Multiple Tooth Implants
For patients with multiple missing teeth, multiple implants can be used to support bridges or partial dentures. This method avoids the need for traditional dentures that may be uncomfortable or unstable
All-on-4 Dental Implants
The All-on-4 system is ideal if you have lost most or all of your teeth. Using just four implants, we can support an entire arch of teeth, reducing both surgery time and cost. This technique is perfect for patients who want a faster, less invasive option
Bone Grafting for Implants
Sometimes, patients may not have enough bone density to support implants. In such cases, a bone graft is necessary to build up the jawbone. Dr. Veron Koh is skilled in performing bone grafting procedures, ensuring that patients can proceed with their implant treatment safely
Potential Side Effects of Dental Implants
While dental implants have a 95% success rate, it’s important to be aware of potential side effects:
- Gum inflammation or infection: Proper oral hygiene is essential to prevent this.
- Bone loss: Rare but possible if the implant does not integrate well with the bone.
- Nerve damage: Uncommon, especially with advanced imaging tools like CBCT scans that we use at V Dental Clinic.
At our clinic in SS2, we take every precaution to ensure a smooth and safe procedure. Dr. Veron Koh’s extensive experience reduces the risk of complications, giving you peace of mind
The Dental Implant Process
First Visit
Consultation
During your first consultation, the dentist will evaluate your oral health and determine if you're a candidate for dental implants. A customised treatment plan is developed based on your specific needs and goals such as the need of bone grafting.
Second Visit
Implant Placement
The implants are surgically placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. After placing the implant, you will have to rest up a few months’ time before proceeding to the next stage. In some cases, temporary restorations may be placed while the implants heal. Over the period, the implants fuse with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration, providing a strong and stable foundation.
Third Visit
Healing Abutment Placement
Once the implant has integrated with the bone, the dentist perform a minor surgical procedure to place an abutment on the implant which the crown will be attached to it. Local anaesthetic is used to minimise discomfort during the procedure.
Fourth Visit
Taking Impression
After the healing period, the dentist will take impressions to fabricate the permanent replacement teeth (crowns, bridges, or dentures) to be attached to the implants, completing your smile restoration.
Fifth Visit
Replacement Teeth Placement
Once the customised crowns/ bridges, or dentures are ready, they are attached to the implants, completing your smile restoration. They are designed to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth as well as the overall aesthetic of your preference.
